Murphy Crossing
-
Murphy Crossing is a mixed-use adaptive reuse and urban redevelopment proposal in Atlanta, Georgia developed in response to an RFP for the transformation of the historic Murphy Crossing site. Originally operating as a state farmer’s market, the proposal seeks to reconnect and reactivate the property through a network of food halls, restaurants, parks, residences, and public gathering spaces designed to support long-term community growth and neighborhood revitalization.
-
The challenge of the proposal is reimagining a historically industrial site as a connected mixed-use district while preserving the architectural character and cultural identity of Murphy Crossing. The design explores how adaptive reuse, public space, housing, and food-driven programming could work together to create a more walkable and community-oriented urban environment within Atlanta’s evolving Southside.

Developed in response to the Murphy Crossing RFP, the proposal explores how a former state farmer’s market could evolve into an activated urban neighborhood in Atlanta.
Centered around connectivity and adaptive reuse, the proposal would knit together multiple historic structures into a cohesive mixed-use district organized around food, community, and public life. By integrating restaurants, food halls, residences, and parks within the existing architectural framework, the design seeks to establish a layered urban environment that strengthens pedestrian engagement while preserving the industrial character and cultural memory of Murphy Crossing.
