The Youth Villages Cottage is a residential treatment facility in Douglasville, Georgia designed to support children ages 9–17 facing emotional and behavioral challenges. Developed as part of the broader Youth Villages campus, the project reimagines therapeutic residential architecture through a balance of resilience, openness, and connection to the surrounding rural landscape. Durable materials, expansive glazing, and carefully framed outdoor spaces create an environment centered on healing, community, and daily life.

The project required creating a secure and durable residential treatment environment that avoided the institutional character often associated with behavioral health facilities. The design needed to support therapeutic care, foster connection between residents and staff, and strengthen engagement with the surrounding landscape while responding sensitively to the sloping terrain, lakefront setting, and broader campus circulation patterns.
