TGR Learning Lab

  • The historic Capitol View Elementary School in Atlanta’s Capitol View neighborhood was constructed in 1928.  Originally a 30,000 SF building, the school expanded overtime to serve a growing population.

The Learning Lab hosts children from schools around the area by providing after-school STEAM education to supplement day-to-day learning.  The facility also offers access through summer camps, and field trips.

  • The building functioned within the Atlanta Public School system until 2017, and has been vacant since then.  The TGR Foundation leased the vacant building from APS, and engaged Post Loyal to transform the historic structure into a Learning Lab.

Breathing new life into this beautiful historic building required attention to detail, and a sensitivity to the existing conditions.

The new entrance to the building has been reconfigured.  We have marked the new procession by peeling away brick near the entry so the occupant can view the interior STEAM activity en route to the front door.
